 The
Irish Draft Society of North America was pleased to approve King's Ransom as
a breeding stallion, noting his refinement, temperament, movement and
jumping ability.
2005 was King's Ransom's first year in
the show ring where he placed consistently in the 1.10m and 1.15m divisions
(Level III & IV) as well as in eventing. Kings Ransom is being
developed to participate in high level competition as a an eventer. In
2006 King's Ransom won an event at Galway Downs CSI* in California.
King's Ransom is the winner of the
prestigious Leutenant Governor's Cup in 2000. At his CSHA approvals
King's Ransom scored 8/10 for Conformation, Movement and Strength and 8/10
for Type, Quality and Substance with an overall score of 79.5%

Kings Ransom's grandsire, King of
Diamonds (picture at right), is described in 'The Irish Draught Horse'
by Alex Fell as 'the single best known Irish Draught of modern times (he)
has been described as the saviour of the Irish Draught as a breed, as a
result of his prepotent jumping ability'.
King of Diamonds is ranked 21st in the
World Breeding Rankings for the period 1992 - 2001 on the basis of 19 of his
progeny, including Rodrigo Pessoa's Special Envoy, John Ledingham's
Millstreet Ruby, and Joe Fargis' Mill Pearl. King of Diamonds was by Errigal
a son of Silvermines, which was the Irish Draught side of his parentage. His
dam Ruby was by True Boy, a halfbred sire who traces to Kildare, a well
known Irish Draughtstallion at the beginning of the century. The grand dam
was the Thoroughbred mare Biddens. King of Diamonds was a jumper in his own
right. When King of Diamonds died in 1991 at the age of 29 he had eleven
stallion sons on the Irish Horse Register and two grandsons. Four years
later his descendant stallions numbered over forty.
King's Ransom's dam, K RS Melanie
carries the blood of Nearco from both her sire and dam sides. K RS

K RS Melanie's dam, Bobs Maggie is by
Africanus who is by Swaps, a grandson of Hyperion. Swaps posted these
statistics - 25-19-2-2. Winner of (USD) $848,900. Raced for 3 years. Won 14
stakes. Set 5 world records at a mile or more, 3 track records, and equalled
an American turf record. Purchased for Stud for $2 Million. Africanus'
dam Malindi is by Nearco.
